In rural areas, the connection between villages and Marathi ZP schools has weakened, leading to a decline in student enrollment. If these issues are not addressed, Marathi schools may disappear in the future. To tackle this, we introduced the Shala-Mitra Gaon initiative to improve the quality and sustainability of primary education. This program bridges the gap between villages and schools through community participation, fostering better coordination and yielding positive results. Many villages are now actively involved in school development. The initiative is being implemented in six districts—Satara, Sangli, Kolhapur, Pune, Wardha, and Yavatmal—to strengthen rural primary education. So far, 20 schools across these districts have witnessed significant improvements, ensuring a more sustainable and effective learning environment.
